- MeduMaZe supports a 2 to 3 hour training event
that features the 3 key stages in bringing a new medicine to market:
* Early Discovery & Development * Full
Development & Clinical Studies * Regulatory Review & Approval - MeduMaZe is interactive and suitable for use in both tutorial and lecture theatre settings, with students split into
groups of 4-6 players per game board
- In addition to emphasizing
the overall development process, students are exposed to realistic scientific events that may slow down or speed up development,
this frequently stimulates dialogue, learning and laughter
- The
game encourages matrix thinking and an appreciation for good science and project planning as well as an understanding of the
many disciplines that contribute to the medicine development process - it is great for giving people 'The Big Picture'
- The game has been tested in academic and industry settings by Bachelor, Pharmacy and
Master of Science students and veterans of industry for current awareness, GXP, and orientation training as well as team-building.
- Players said
"I loved the game," "we learnt so much," "very creative," "now I understand why it [drug
development] takes so long and costs so much," "I have been through drug development process presentations before
but this event was extremely beneficial and interesting"
- Managers and Lecturers said "an interactive tool particularly useful
for training beginners and associates in Regulatory Affairs...avoiding expensive travel and MeduMaZe can be used repeatedly
during the year...to meet GXP training needs," "a fabulous success...revitalized GMP training," "The
MeduMaZe session went very well and the students, and staff, enjoyed it - we will run it again"
- Consider use of this game to teach pharmaceutical industry staff and investors about
the 'big picture' of R&D, to help science majors make informed career decisions, to inform healthcare professionals
about development of the products they prescribe and use to take care of their patients, to support a Lunch and Learn
program or consolidate a team-building activity
